Started with one truck and Bob's pickup in 2011. Today: 14 trucks, 22 plumbers, dispatching from a small Edmonton office that still smells faintly of coffee.
Bob Henrickson started this company because he was tired of watching his neighbours get ripped off at 2am.
In 2011 he was working for one of the big franchise outfits in Edmonton. He'd been called out to a flooded basement in Mill Woods in February. Got there, fixed the burst line in 40 minutes, then his boss told him to write up a $4,200 invoice because "the customer was desperate."
Bob refused. Wrote up $389. Got fired the next morning.
Two weeks later he was in his pickup at 3am in a Tim Hortons parking lot off Whyte Ave, taking phone calls. Edmonton Emergency Plumbing Co existed.
It's now 14 years later. Bob's still here (semi-retired, mostly answers night-shift calls because he can't sleep anyway). His daughter Maya runs operations. His son Cole runs the gas-fitter crew. There are 22 plumbers, 14 trucks, and a tiny dispatch office on 142 Street.
The flat-rate, written-quote-before-we-start policy is still the same one Bob wrote on a napkin in that Tim Hortons. We've never raised dispatch fees above $0. We've never charged overnight surcharges. We never will.
We'll show up faster than you expect. Quote will be fairer than you expect. Done.
